ABOUT SIAN
Kia ora, my name is Sian Northey and I have been a physiotherapist at Lifestyle Physiotherapy since 2020. I am originally from Whangarei, Northland but made the move to Hamilton after graduating with a Bachelor of Health Sciences: Physiotherapy from AUT in 2017.
I am a friendly and approachable person and I have a passion for my job. I love the challenge that my job brings and the satisfaction of improving people's quality of life and function for their day-to-day. I grew up in a very active household where I mainly focused on hockey, gymnastics, and cricket as my main sports. Although I no longer play any competitive sports, I love the competitiveness and comradery that comes with being involved in team sports. I have worked with a range of sports teams and athletes including rugby, rugby 7s, touch, cricket, and athletics. I am currently the Chiefs Manawa and Waikato FPC head physiotherapist and work as a non-travelling Black Ferns physio. My passion is working with athletes, to assist them back onto the field or court but also work alongside them to be able to perform at their best.
My practice incorporates a combination of manual therapy and exercise-based rehabilitation, while maintaining up-to-date evidence-based practice. I am currently studying towards my Masters in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy through AUT University, as well as working part-time in rugby which keeps me busy through the year. When I'm not working, I will likely be catching up with friends over coffee or visiting my family up north. Going to the gym regularly and exercising keeps me sane through busy periods of work!
I am based at St Andrews clinic part-time. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to achieve your goals!
