Floating can help with the following areas:
Floating is designed to increase physical and mental well-being through deprivation of the senses. The process itself is completely natural, and simpler than you might think. It involves lying in a tank filled with body temperature water and enough Epsom salts to keep you buoyant. The tank is also completely dark and soundproof, resulting in sensory deprivation. This minimises activity in the brain, and allows your mind and body to fully relax. Each float session is a great investment of time too. While sessions last just 60 minutes, the benefits can actually be much longer lasting.
It has also been proven that the more you float, the more strongly you will experience the benefits. It is recommended to book at least three float sessions initially, as this allows you to properly adjust to the experience and get the most out of it. If you have never floated before, you can save with our three float starter pass.
Floating has been proven to produce a range of both physical and mental benefits. Many people also find that the more they float, the more strongly these benefits are felt. Over the several weeks following your float, you are likely to experience the following effects.
Just one hour of floating is comparable to 6-8 hours of sleep.
Floating helps combat anxiety & depression by minimizing your stress hormone production.
Oxygenating your body, floating helps improve blood flow to the brain, organs, and limbs.
There have been many instances of professional athletes recovering from injury weeks ahead of schedule due to regular floating.
While floating, endorphins are released through your system, and your mind is relaxed. As blood pressure and heart rate regulation is also improved, many people report having the best sleep of their lives after a float session.
Floating helps you release all the mental clutter of everyday life. This allows you to focus with no distractions. Floating also stimulates the right side of the brain, inspiring creativity.
Floating allows lactic acid to pass out of the muscles faster, while studies have shown it also helps improve focus and athletic skill.
Floating increases blood flow throughout the body. When circulation is improved, it can help to loosen stiff and sore muscles
Floating is fantastic for those with high stress jobs, chronic pain, athletes, pregnant women, those who have trouble sleeping, and anyone who feels they would benefit from being able to take some time out and relax.
Mind & Body
Floating increases endorphin levels, which relate to feelings of happiness. Along with other physiological processes, this can balance the natural levels of hormones in the body to help with pain, anxiety, and stress levels.
The temperature of the water (body temperature) makes it almost impossible to know what part of your body is in or out of the water when you Float. Along with the silence and darkness, your body is in a state of sensory deprivation. This means that the areas of the brain which are normally overloaded through the day with light and noise are not processing as much information. This state is one of tranquility and calmness, allowing full physical and mental relaxation.
Reduction in cortisol levels can help reduce muscle pain and soreness, aiding in recovery time. Floating before an event can also help with visualisation and improve your mental clarity. Other benefits for athletes include increased endorphin levels, improved circulation and removed lactic acid.
You are able to Float if you are pregnant, however it is recommended that you consult your GP or midwife first. The weightlessness can help relieve pregnancy related back and pelvic pain. Floating is known to improve sleep and reduce stress through the release of endorphins and balance of cortisol levels.
Unfortunately, you cannot Float if you:

Floating often provides a range of physical and mental benefits for each person. You may even find that you experience benefits other than those we have listed. This is actually quite common. The Floating process is so effective because it simply allows your mind and body to reset and recharge naturally, rather than relying on external sources.
Yes! The water has a very high concentration of Epsom salts, meaning you will always stay afloat, with no effort at all required. The water is also heated to body temperature, so you’ll eventually forget about the water completely!
People often find it difficult to ‘switch off’, and thoughts will run through your head at a million miles an hour. This is actually perfectly normal. During your first few Floats this may happen, so it is good to have a strategy. Think of a place or memory where you recall being very relaxed, and focus on how that felt. When you notice your mind has wandered, acknowledge it and bring yourself back to your relaxing memory or thought.
You could also try a simple mental body scan. Start at your head and slowly work your way down the body, being aware of what you do or don’t feel. Notice where you might feel tightness or tension, notice how weightless you feel, and allow each part of you to relax. Mindfulness is great when you are floating, and we are happy to guide you through this if you like.
Not everyone will fall asleep when they Float (although it is perfectly safe to fall asleep, as you will stay buoyant because of the Epsom salt concentration). The aim of Floating isn’t necessarily to fall asleep. Floating with no stimulation from noise, light or the effects of gravity allows your body and mind to relax. This makes it the perfect time to practice some mindfulness, tune into your body, or just enjoy being able to take some time out with no expectations on you.
Don’t worry, even people who experience extreme claustrophobia have no problems during their float session. Because your senses are being rested and your mind is in a state of relaxation, you won’t feel like you’re in a confined space. Instead, you will feel free, as though you are floating in space!
You can ease yourself in to your experience and keep the lid open while you Float, and as you become more comfortable with the surroundings you can start to close the lid and gradually work towards Floating with the lid down.
It is recommended by Float experts to start with two or three sessions in a fairly short period to experience the benefits more comprehensively. A lot of people who have never floated before are a bit uncertain of what to expect, and are unsure about 60 minutes of floating in complete silence.
With that in mind, we have created an Intro to Floating package which includes:
These initial three sessions are available for a total of just $175.
Allow your mind and body to become familiar with the environment and adjust to the new sensations. We are confident your Float experiences will become more and more profound, and you will love it just as much as we do.
